“Let’s Get Cooking!”

A New Central Kitchen for Sacramento City Unified School District

Opportunity

A central kitchen will make it easier to: provide healthy, sustainable, fresh, and local food to all schoolchildren; link district food and agriculture sector career educational programs with a state of the art district kitchen; and have more control over menus and perishable inventory. Nutrition Services serves 47,000 students a year, 72% of which are eligible for the free and reduced-price lunch program. The food produced by the central kitchen will feed kids K-12 in the SCUSD district.
